On August 7, at 8:28 p.m., Cpl. S. B. Koch responded to the 25000 block of Loveville Road for a reported Motor Vehicle Theft.
Upon arrival, contact was made with a female complainant, 34 of Mechanicsville, advised that John Michael Davis, 45 of Mechanicsville, had unlawfully removed a motor vehicle from the residence. Contact with the owner of the vehicle confirmed that Davis was utilizing the vehicle without permission and that criminal charges were desired for the theft.
Prior to the motor vehicle being entered into METERS/NCIC, Davis returned to the residence. Davis was arrested for Motor Vehicle Theft and additionally charged with Driving Under the Influence after failing field sobriety.
Davis was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
