At 3:52 p.m. on September 9, Officer D. Major conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and the driver provided a false name. He was issued several citations and released and the vehicle was towed.

Officers subsequently learned the driverโ€™s real identity, Patrick Lionel Adams, 36, of Waldorf, and attempted to arrest him in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn located at 45 St. Patrickโ€™s Drive in Waldorf. Adams resisted and attempted to flee. A struggle ensued and he was subsequently arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving without a license, displaying registration issued to another, unauthorized display and use of registration plate, driving an unregistered vehicle on the roadway and driver providing a false name.

Adams was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer D. Major investigated.
