At 10:48 p.m. on November 20, Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to a house fire at 25350 Pinto Drive in Hollywood.
When Engine 73 arrived at 10:50 p.m. they dropped a line from Sotterley Road and found nothing evident at the single story, single family residence. Chief 7B arrived at 10:52 p.m. and established the Pinto Drive Command.
Crews entered the home to find heavy smoke conditions coming from the master bedroom area. Upon further investigation Engine 73’s crew found a small fire in a bathroom in the master bedroom. Units managed to contain the fire to the room of origin.
Truck 7’s crew set up lights and fans, while Engine 74 and Rescue Squad 7 crews checked for extension of the fire in the attic.
By 22:55 p.m. command put the fire under control, holding it with units on location.
Crews overhauled the room and went in service at 11:23 p.m. The cause of fire was determined to be a cigarette discarded in a trash can in the bathroom.
