CAS Cheer & Dance, competitive cheer and dance teams located in Owings, attended the Grand National Championship held in Virginia Beach, VA on March 24 & 25th. The two day event was hosted by Cheer & Dance Extreme and had nearly 300 teams and individual competitors in attendance.
At the event CAS earned 5 National Titles in the Youth and Junior Pom Dance divisions, Mini Tumble Star awarded to Tegan Leese, Junior Tumble Star awarded to Josie Bonenfant, and Senior Tumble Star awarded to Jake Jones. In addition to their National Titles, CAS was honored to have a member of their coaching staff, Steve Jones recognized as the VIP of 2012, an award given to a coach, parent, or supporter who has made outstanding contributions to the cheer and dance community and the community at large. CAS is also very proud of the outstanding performances of their Youth, Junior and Senior teams all of whom placed at the top half of their respective divisions.
CAS will be holding its tenth annual Open House on Saturday, April 21st from 11 am to Noon at the CAS Gym located at 871 Keith Lane in Owings for cheer and dance athletes interested in participating in their fun and affordable program. CAS began in 1998 with 40 athletes, practicing in a local elementary school and is now entering its 15th year; CAS is a unique program, it is a federally recognized 501c3 organization where 100% of the proceeds go to support the program. During the Open House, all of the CAS Teams and athletes will perform and their will games and giveaways. Most importantly, CAS has been blessed to play a part in lives of nearly 1000 athletes and they want to recognize and honor each one of them. Each and every athlete has left a lasting mark in the memories of the coaching staff and fellow athletes and they are now inviting each of them to return and leave their lasting mark within the walls of their gym as they begin a new tradition of “decorating” the walls with the handprints of all of their members, past & present.
