USPICIOUS VEHICLE LEADS TO DRUG RECOVERY AND ARRESTS: On April 9 at 2:40 a.m., Officer M. Armstrong observed an occupied vehicle in the parking lot of a closed business in the 100 block of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf. When Officer Armstrong approached the car, he observed two people inside and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officer Armstrong continued investigating and subsequently located several mason jars inside the car which were filled with marijuana wrapped in small individual baggies, ready for sale. In addition, a large bag of marijuana, a digital scale, a drug grinder and several counterfeit bills were also discovered in the vehicle. The occupants, Vertel Taborro Deal, Jr., 24, of Hughesville and Antoine Valintino Hughes, 23, of Upper Marlboro, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of counterfeit bills.ย

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: On April 9 at 12:09 a.m., a masked man approached a clerk as he was working the drive-through window of a liquor store in the 3200 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. The clerk fled to a back room and officers were notified. A review of surveillance footage showed two males actually approached the window but they fled when the clerk ran. Nothing was stolen. A K-9 track was conducted and officers processed the scene for evidence. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
VANDALISM: Between April 4 โ April 8, unknown suspect(s) spray painted construction equipment in the 2300 block of Mill Hill Road in Waldorf. The word AURA was painted in black with a small circle and an X through the middle of it under the word. Pfc. M. Wagner is investigating.ย
THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES: Between April 7- April 8, during the overnight hours, unknown suspect(s) entered unlocked vehicles parked on Weymouth Court, Millbrook Court and Lancaster Drive and stole valuables which were left inside the cars. Some of the items stolen include a Garmin GPS Navigator, a Tom-tom GPS Navigator, 10 music discs, and cash. PFC K. Newman is investigating.
