Hollywood, MD – July 1 is National Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day, which gives you the perfect reason to indulge in your favorite sweet treat! But why not, go out of your vanilla-or-chocolate comfort zone and try out some more unusual flavors. Here are five ways to celebrate the holiday locally.

Brusterโ€™s
With 24 flavors to choose from everyday, itโ€™s easy to find creative flavors at Brusterโ€™s. From the super-sweet Cotton Candy Explosion, which features Pop Rocks candy, to Jamaican Me Crazy, a coconut ice cream with almonds and fudges, thereโ€™s something for everyone. For those who crave chocolate, Chocolate Loverโ€™s Trash has chocolate chunks, chocolate covered peanuts, chocolate butter toffees and chocolate rice Krispies. While Purple Dinosaur puts a creative twist on the classic vanilla cone.

Cold Stone
Itโ€™s easy to get creative at Cold Stone because they have dozens of options of ice cream flavors and mix-inโ€™s, so you can make your own creative creation. I would recommend mixing mint and chocolate cake batter together and getting Oreoโ€™s and Kit-Kat bars added. But if youโ€™re not sure what youโ€™d like they have over 20 of their own signature creations. Founderโ€™s Favorite features sweet cream ice cream, pecans, brownie, fudge and caramel, while The Pie Who Loved Me has cheesecake ice cream, Oreoโ€™s, graham cracker pie crust and fudge. Or if youโ€™re looking for something colorful, you can try Rainbow Cookie Batter, which feature sugar bookie batter ice cream, sugar cookie dough and, of course, rainbow sprinkles.

Maggie Mooโ€™s
Maggie Mooโ€™s does not have the kind of creative combinations that Cold Stone does but they still have some pretty interesting flavors. Bubblegum, Carrot Cake, Pina Colada Very Yellow Marshmallow are just a few from the multitude options at this ice cream parlor. Thereโ€™s something for everyone from the brave to the classic ice cream lover.

Bertโ€™s 50โ€™s Diner
If all of this sounds like too much to you, you can still celebrate the holiday with some tried and true sundaes and cones from Bertโ€™s 50โ€™s Diner. From Banana Splits to Sโ€™Mores sundaes, you canโ€™t go wrong with a classic sundae with either soft serve or hand-dipped ice cream and a cherry on top.

Make Your Own
If youโ€™re really in the mood for some ice cream, make a night out of it. Grab some ice cream and your favorite toppings from the grocery store and try out different combinations. From caramel, to walnuts or marshmallows, itโ€™s easy to think up your own concoctions. And if youโ€™re feeling brave, mix in some Old Bay and caramel, a creation inspired by The Charmery in Baltimore.
