On May 14 at 10:42 a.m., a patrol officer observed a man darting between cars in the parking lot of the Smallwood Park and Ride located at Crain Highway and Smallwood Drive in Waldorf – the site of several thefts from autos in the last week.
As the officer went to investigate, the suspect entered a Lincoln Town Car and lowered his seat back to avoid detection. The officer initiated a traffic stop but the suspect sped off, driving over a curb, heading north in the southbound lanes.
The officer pursued the car into Prince Georgeโs County where the driver lost control near Crain Highway at Trade Zone Avenue. The suspect, Kimfrey Lee Williams, 19 of Southeast D.C., was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and multiple traffic violations including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and negligent driving.
At the time of the arrest, the suspect provided an alias. A subsequent investigation revealed the driverโs true name and a computer check showed the suspect had open warrants for robbery and assault in Prince Georgeโs County.
The suspect will be charged with providing false information to a police officer and the outstanding warrants will be served. Officer J. Feldman is continuing the investigation.ย
