The race for the three-person House of Delegates Legislative District 28 has become politically interesting. Incumbent Democrats Sally Jameson, chair of the Southern Maryland Delegation, and C.T. Wilson filed for re-election in November. But the third delegate, Peter Murphy, opted to run for county commissioner president. Instead, current commissioner president, Candice Quinn Kelly (D) filed to run for House of Delegates.
John Coller, a Democrat from Waldorf filed on Jan. 28. Now former Charles County Commissioner Edith J. Patterson from Pomfret has entered the fray, filing on Feb. 20.
Patterson was a member of the Charles County Commissioners for eight years from 2002-2010 and vice-president during her second term. She is currently a member of the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
Also filing on the GOP side for the House of Delegates seat was Jim Crawford of Bryantown, who filed on deadline day, Feb. 25.
Larreic โLarryโ Green of Bryans Road, entered the race last June but withdrew from the race in November.
Joe Crawford, a Republican candidate from Waldorf, filed Feb. 25 for the Legislative District 27A seat currently held by James E. Proctor Jr. of Accokeek.
Democratic Senator Mac Middleton has no challengers in the primary for the Legislative District 28. But two Republicans have filed. Josh Castle of White Plains filed for the seat Feb. 25. Allan Donnelly, of Indian Head, filed Feb. 21.
