Charlotte Hall, MD – On April 20, 2016, Charlotte Hall Veterans Home celebrated the open hearts of community members who so graciously donated over 13,000 hours and $103,000 in support of their veterans in 2015. Attending the banquet were individuals and organizations who contributed more than 24 hours of service or $500 in goods or financial support. The banquet was a filled with laughter, gratitude and reflection on a year full of dedication.
There are no words for how much Charlotte Hall Veterans Home appreciates what you’ve done to help us care for these brave men and women. We would like to congratulate Kevin Woodward, who was nominated as our 2015 Volunteer of the Year based on his daily service to our veterans. For donating over $31,000, our financial support Organization of the Year went to American Legion Post 91 in Cambridge, MD, and Encounter Christian Center was named our service Organization of the Year for their weekly commitment to visiting and serving our residents.
A special thank you is owed to the Greater Waldorf Jaycees for faithfully hosting our Volunteer Appreciation banquets, to the Lounge Hounds for their entertainment, to Secretary Owings of the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs for his inspiring words, the Washington D.C. Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center for recognizing our volunteers’ hard work, the members of the Maryland Veterans Home Commission, and of course the staff of HMR Veteran Services of Maryland. Together with these volunteers, you all help improve the lives of our veterans every day.
