
ANNAPOLIS, Md. โ Maryland State Troopers removed eight impaired drivers from Anne Arundel County roads during โCheckpoint Strikeforceโ this weekend. In addition, four individuals were issued civil citations for CDS violations.
Nineteen Maryland State Troopers participated in the sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrol initiative in Anne Arundel County. The sobriety checkpoint was conducted on MD Route 450 in Annapolis. During the 4-hour initiative, a total of 374 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint and an additional 24 vehicles were stopped on highways in the Annapolis area. A total of eight drivers were subsequently arrested for impaired driving and four individuals were issued civil citations for possession of a marijuana less than 10 grams. - Sawdil Escobar, 21, Hyattsville, Md.
Maryland State Police Annapolis Barrack and Glen Burnie Barrack, in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (SHA), participated in the operation. The Maryland State Police SPIDRE, or State Police Impaired Driving Reduction Effort team, also participated in the operation.
All persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
