Huntingtown, MD –ย A Calvert County volunteer fire companyย  reported that crews were dispatched Thursday morning, April 16 to an undisclosed location in Huntingtown for a report of a near-drowning.

According to a posted report by Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department (Company 6) Assistant Chief Philip Morris, emergency personnel โ€œarrived to find a semi-responsive toddler after a near-drowning incident. Due to information gathered and the patientโ€™s initial condition, the Maryland State Police (MSP) Aviation Division was immediately activated.โ€

Morris stated that the responders โ€œworked to warm and oxygenate the patientโ€ prior to the landing in a nearby field of MSP Trooper 2. The small child was then flown to Childrenโ€™s Hospital in Washington, DC.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Thursday. There is no word on the child’s current condition.
