Huntingtown, MD – A Calvert County volunteer fire company reported that crews were dispatched Thursday morning, April 16 to an undisclosed location in Huntingtown for a report of a near-drowning.
According to a posted report by Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department (Company 6) Assistant Chief Philip Morris, emergency personnel “arrived to find a semi-responsive toddler after a near-drowning incident. Due to information gathered and the patient’s initial condition, the Maryland State Police (MSP) Aviation Division was immediately activated.”
Morris stated that the responders “worked to warm and oxygenate the patient” prior to the landing in a nearby field of MSP Trooper 2. The small child was then flown to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. Thursday. There is no word on the child’s current condition.
