
SOUTHERN MARYLAND — Three Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) baseball teams are moving to MPSSAA state quarterfinals after capturing regional titles this week. Congratulations to Chopticon High School, Huntingtown High School, and Henry E. Lackey High School, who will proudly represent Southern Maryland in the next round of postseason play.
Chopticon High School, the No. 1 seed in the 3A East II Region, edged Northern-Calvert 7–6 in a home victory on May 14 to clinch the regional title.
Huntingtown High School, the No. 1 seed in Class 2A, defeated La Plata 3–1 in the 2A South II Region final, played May 14 at Huntingtown.
Lackey High School, seeded No. 7 in Class 2A, took down Frederick Douglass-PG 6–4 in the Region 2A South I final, winning on the road at Henry A. Wise High School.
