Band Geeks, based on the book by Gordon Greenberg adapted by Tommy Newman, Mark Allen, and Gaby Alter, is the perfect musical for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood or alone. The audience is immersed into the complex world of high school and reminded of the difficulties of fitting into the crowd and learning how to be unique. As the curtain rises, the quirky, and prideful, band captain, Elliot, faces the daunting task of trying to hold the school band together against great odds. The Beavers Marching Band is slowly falling apart with little funding or recognition, although they are beaming with talent. The Beavers get a new member from the rival school, a football player named Jake, who comes in and turns the band around after revealing his secret talent for playing the drums. Throughout the show the characters learn to embrace their individuality and become the person they aspire to be.
