A renowned psychic, who authored more than 30 books and is credited with solving old murder cases, offered her insight recently on a Charles County unsolved murder case.
Christopher Mader was traveling home at 3 a.m. Thanksgiving morning 2004 on Smallwood Drive West near St. Stevens Drive in Waldorf, when he was shot and killed behind the wheel, causing his car to crash into a pole.
Mader’s mother, Samantha Payne, recently appeared sobbing in an episode of the Montel Williams Show with psychic Sylvia Browne. She recounted the known details of the murder, and asked Browne for solace.

Police released this sketch of a person who may have information about the case. |
Payne told the audience on the show, which aired Wednesday on WUSA, her first born child was on his way home from work, โliterally three blocks from home,โ when he was shot. The mother said Mader had $1,000 in his wallet, numerous CDs and his cell phone on him after the murder, so the case wasnโt robbery.
โIt just breaks our hearts not to know if it was someone that hated him or if it was a drive-by shooting,โ Payne said.
โWhen I work โฆ with police and everything else, it takes a little while to build up, but this came in like gangbusters,โ Browne started her comments.
The psychic then immediately announced, โThis guyโs name is ______.โ For some reason the Montel Williams show slyly edited out the name the psychic said with a second of silence.
โ[Your son] got into a confrontation with this guy,โ Browne continued. โIt was one of those where you get ticked off, he was eating and didnโt like the food [โฆ] he was saying something like โyou call this food?โโ
At this point Williams asked if the murder was a road rage incident, but Browne replied negatively.
โThe guy was a cook, a fry cook, you know the elevator didnโt go all the way up, you know what Iโm saying,โ Browne said of the murderer. โHe saw him passing by and shot him, from car to car.โ
The mother then asked the psychic if the killer was waiting for he son.
โNo, he was carrying a gun in his car anyway,โ she replied.
โI think this guy is being wanted by another name, but if they check this name there going to find he is wanted for something else,โ Browne said.
โDid he see it coming? Did he feel any pain?โ the mother asked.
โNah,โ said Browne. โThis guy was really ticked off [โฆ] you see people who are not right in their head go on these vendettas [โฆ]You know if somebody said to me, โwhat you cooked, it lousy,โ Iโd say โdonโt eat itโ&rd
