VanGO
Due to hazardous road conditions, VanGO is suspending all service for Tuesday, Feb. 17.ย All VanGO transit services for today are canceled, and will not start at 10 a.m., as previously announced. For further information, call 301-934-9305 ext. 5179 or visit www.CharlesCountyMD.gov/cs/VanGO/VanGO.
Government
Due to inclement weather, Charles County Government is closed today, Tuesday, Feb. 17. Essential personnel and employees required to maintain operations during inclement weather are to report to work as scheduled.
Curbside Recycling Collection will be delayed one day this week. Tuesday “A” collection will take place on Wednesday; Wednesday “A” on Thursday; Thursday “A” on Friday; and Friday “A” on Saturday. The Charles County Landfill and Recycling Center on Billingsley Road in Waldorf and the Pisgah Recycling Center will be open for normal operating hours.

All Charles County public schools will be closed Feb. 17, There is a code red for staff who follow the code system.
Department of Community Services
Due to the approaching winter storm, the Recreation Division has the following cancellations and early closures for Monday, Feb. 16, 2015:
Lackey and North Point Indoor Pools will be closing at 3 p.m.
Port Tobacco Recreation Center will be closed.
All indoor Sports games and practices are canceled.
Elite Gymnastics and Recreation Center will close at 5 p.m.
All Community Centers were previously scheduled to be closed for Presidents Day, Feb. 16.

St. Mary’s County
Government
Leonardtown, MD โ The latest winter storm has dumped between five and six inches of snow across the county. Department of Public Works and Transportation crews and contractors were mobilized Monday afternoon and continue to plow and salt over 1,200 lane miles of county roadways. Crews will continue these efforts for the duration of the storm.
Hereโs the status of County Government operations:
โข All St. Maryโs County Government Administrative Offices are closed. Essential employees should report as scheduled or contact their supervisor.
โข All St. Maryโs County Public Schools are closed. Code 3 for employees.
โข Non-Public School Transportation will not be provided.
โข STS bus service is closed
โข All Recreation and Parks programs are cancelled and all facilities are closed.
โข All Senior Activity Centers are closed and there will be no home delivered meals.
โข The St. Andrews landfill and six (6) convenience centers are closed.
โข St. Maryโs County Circuit Court and District Court are closed.
โข All three branches of the St. Maryโs County Library are closed.
โข All three College of Southern Maryland campuses are closed.
Schools
All St. Mary’s County public schools are closed Feb. 17. No employees should report to work. Administrative leave will be provided for 12 month employees.
Transit System
Leonardtown, MD โ St. Maryโs Transit System (STS) Transit routes will begin suspending operations at approximately 5 p.m. todayย in anticipation of deteriorating roadway conditions.
All service routes, which operate evenings between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., will not operate this evening.
Parks and Recreation
Leonardtown, MD – All Recreation & Parks programs and facilities will close at 5 p.m. today due to the pending inclement weather.ย This includes Margaret Brent, Hollywood, Chancellor’s Run, Carver and Leonard Hall Recreation Centers.
In addition the Great Mills pool will close at 5pm and all evening classes at the Gymnastics Center are cancelled.
State
State offices & facilities will be closed Feb 17th until end of day shift. Emergency essential employees report as scheduled.
St. Mary’s College
Tuesday, February 17th: All classes are cancelled and all offices are closed. Essential employees must report at their designated time.
Southern Maryland Higher Education Center
SMHEC will be closed Feb. 17
Federal Government
Federal offices in the Washington, DC area are closed. Emergency and telework-ready employees required to work must follow their agency’s policies, including written telework agreements.
Non-emergency employees will be granted excused absence (administrative leave) for the number of hours they were scheduled to work unless they are:
- required to telework,
- on official travel outside of the Washington, DC area,
- on pre-approved leave (including leave without pay), or
- on an alternative work schedule (AWS) day off.
Telework-Ready Employees who are scheduled to perform telework on the effective day of the announcement or who are required to perform telework on a day when Federal offices are closed must telework the entire workday or request leave, or a combination of both, in accordance with their agency’s policies and procedures, subject to any applicable collective bargaining requirements (as consistent with law).
Emergency Employees are expected to report to their worksite unless otherwise directed by their agencies.
College of Southern Maryland
Update: ย All CSM Campuses will be closed on Tuesday, Feb 17 due to weather conditions.
