St. Mary’s County Government

Leonardtown, MD – Concerns about Wednesday evening’s light snowfall and refreezing of snow remaining from Tuesday’s storm has led to a number of changes in operations.

Here’s a roundup of County Government operational changes and adjustments:

➢ All St. Mary’s County Public Schools, including full day Head Start, will operate on a two hour delay. A.M. Pre-Kindergarten and A.M. Head Start students will not have school. However, classes will be held for P.M. Pre-Kindergarten and P.M. Head Start students. Code 5 is in effect for employees.
➢ Non-Public School Transportation will operate on a two hour delay.
➢ All Before Care programs operating in the Public Schools and Hollywood Recreation Center will operate on a two hour delay.
➢ Drivers coming aboard NAS Patuxent River may experience delays at Gate 2 due to the repositioning of sentries who will remain stationed at the guard shack area during the morning rush hours to conduct ID checks. This is being done to provide the sentries with more shelter from the winds and allow for a more frequent rotation of Naval Security Forces. As a result this will decrease the on base queue at the Gate 2 entry control point and possibly increase the stacking length on Rt. 235.

Citizens are urged to exercise caution while on the roads this morning as some icy spots have been reported across the county.

Calvert County

School opening will be delayed 2 hours due to inclement weather. No AM Pre-Kindergarten.

The workday for 10 and 11-month employees will begin 30 minutes before the scheduled student starting time.

12-month employees, including emergency personnel, report on time.
No Food Service Workers are to report prior to 8:00 a.m.

St. Mary’s County

Schools Two Hour Delay: All St. Mary’s County Public Schools, including FULL day Head Start, will have a delayed opening of two hours for Thursday, February 19, 2015. A.M. Pre-Kindergarten and A.M. Head Start students will not have school. However, there will be classes for P.M. Pre-Kindergarten and P.M. Head Start students.

Employee Code 5: St. Mary’s County Public Schools have a delayed opening of two hours for Thursday, February 19, 2015 with a Code 5 for employees. 10 and 11 month employees report to work two hours late. 12-month employees and food service workers are to report to work on time. Liberal leave is in effect.
