Indian Head Swim Team (IHST) announces Jo Proctor and Heather Hamor have signed contracts to coach the team for the 2007 summer season.ย Jo, whoย has served as Indian Head’s Assistant Coach and/or Coach over the past six seasons, swam at the varsity level forย six years in New York State and wasย honored on both County and State levels.ย Heather Hamor, a senior at Frostburg State University (FSU), is a member of the FSU swim team and a former member of the Indian Head swim team.ย She is a certified Lifeguard and ย Water Safety Instructor (WSI) with a long history of swimming success.ย Both or dedicated coaches that are respected and revered by swimmers and parents alike.ย Their technical expertise and compassion for children reigns far and beyond their coaching duties.ย A heartfelt thank you from the IHST Executive Board, parents, and swimmers!
The Indian Head Swim team is a nonprofit special interest group of the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head, Maryland.ย The team provides competitive swimming opportunities to children of active duty, retired military, DoD civilian personnel and local residents of Southern Maryland.ย IHST competes in the Prince Mont Swim League which is comprised of teams from Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Charles Counties, as well as the District of Columbia.
The 2007 summer swim season (June 1 – July 30) is sponsored by Mike Jones Auto Body and the Morale Welfare Recreation Division.ย Registration and Meet The Coach will take place at Lackey High School on Friday, May 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and all interested swimmers between the age of 5 and 18 (as of June 1, 2006) are invited to attend.ย Practices will begin at Lackey High School on June 5 and move to the Indian Head Naval Base Pool upon the end of the school year.
