ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Coast Guard has discontinued its search for Britt Taylor, 52, who had reportedly fallen overboard while sailing to Annapolis.

After over 63 hours of searching across 18,140 miles, which is nearly the size of Costa Rica, the Coast Guard decided to postpone search efforts.

The Coast Guard had started its search on June 2, 2021, after receiving an alert from an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB).

Tony Ward, the captain of the boat, activated his EPIRB when he woke up and found his comrade, Britt Taylor, was missing according to Boatwatch.org.

Taylor was a sailor who raised money for Warrior Sailing when she competed in the 2019 12-Metre World Championships in Newport, Rhode Island, aboard โ€œDefender.โ€

Lastly, An emergency BOLO informed everyone to be on the lookout when traveling in the area and report any potential sightings.
