At 8:25 am on Tuesday, January 16, TFC Rezza and Tpr Pilkerton were patrolling in the area of Rt. 235 in Mechanicsville when they observed 2004 Honda Accord exceeding the posted speed limit. A routine traffic stop was initiated for the violation.
Contact was made with the driver, Gary James Zalovick, 27, of Waldorf. After a check of his driver’s license status, it was discovered Mr. Zalovick’s driving privileges were suspended in Maryland. Mr. Zalovick was arrested for driving while suspended.
A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Zalovick was in possession of cocaine and various prescription medications not prescribed to him.
Mr. Zalovick was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center in Leonardtown pending a bond review.
