The College of Southern Maryland is holding open auditions for the upcoming productions โ€œBut I Said Noโ€ and โ€œLysistrataโ€ beginning at 6 p.m. Jan. 27 and 28 at the Fine Arts Center on the La Plata Campus, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Those auditioning must prepare a one-minute monologue. The auditions are open for community members ages 18 and older.

CSM Cause Theatre will present โ€œBut I Said Noโ€ March 12-29 on allย 

three campuses. This educational theater piece on acquaintance rape hasย 

received national acclaim and has toured extensively on college campusesย 

throughout the country.

CSMโ€™s Renaissance Festival will present โ€œLysistrataโ€ April 25 andย 

26 at the La Plata Campus. โ€œLysistrataโ€ is among the few survivingย 

plays written by Aristophanes. Originally performed in Athens in 411 BC,ย 

it is a comic account of one womanโ€™s extraordinary mission to end theย 

Peloponnesian War. The play is notable for being an early expose ofย 

sexual relations in a male-dominated society.
