Leonardtown, MD – Founded in 2008, Leadership Southern Maryland offers the region’s premier Executive Leadership Program. The competitive, nine-month program is specifically designed to encompass and enhance the collaborative abilities of the region’s top leaders.
Designed for those who live and/or work in Southern Maryland, Leadership Southern Maryland is dedicated to building a cadre of informed regional leaders, prepared to address common issues and bring long-term benefit to their neighbors and communities through experiential learning, regional action, cooperation and service. In recognition of the organization’s 10th anniversary of service to the Southern Maryland community, the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County proclaimed the week of October 22 – 28 Leadership Southern Maryland Week in St. Mary’s County.
“Leadership Southern Maryland’s curriculum includes Energy and Environment, Defense, Public Safety, Health Care, Housing and Human Services, education, Economic and Workforce Development and Multiculturalism,” said Commissioner Todd Morgan (4th District). “The program provides unprecedented opportunities to engage with and have unparalleled access to facilitators, speakers and many of the region’s most highly guarded facilities, including Constellation Energy, Dominion LNG, NAS Patuxent River Atlantic Test Range and the Naval Test Pilot School.”
Leadership Southern Maryland also offers a Teen Leadership Academy, designed to teach, develop and nurture leadership skills for High School youth in St. Mary’s, Calvert and Charles counties. The Teen Leadership Academy provides a hands-on, experiential program with workshops and visits to meet with regional leaders in their workplace across Southern Maryland.
