Charles County, MD – The Charles County Commissioners will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. to accept oral and written comments on the legislative proposals to revise or amend existing state law. The meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room at the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata). At the conclusion of the meeting, the Commissioners will vote on which proposal to forward to the Charles County Delegation for inclusion. The sign-in for speakers will begin 30 minutes prior to the meeting time.

The following is a list of the proposals:
- Amend mental health laws
- Pursue a bond bill to fund purchase of Carousel platform
- Increase distance for alcoholic beverage permit
- Expand law to provide collective bargaining for Sheriff’s Office
- Expand law to provide collective bargaining for correctional officers
- Amend law to prohibit a person from purchasing and selling synthetic marijuana
- Change financial audit date to Dec. 31
- Amend tax property article to limit interest on tax refunds
- Maryland Income Tax refund
