Rain Barrel Workshop
The Charles County Government and University of Maryland Extension are pleased to offer a hands-on workshop on May 13 on the practical uses for rain barrels and how they reduce the impact of runoff on our local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay.

The first workshop starts at 9:30 a.m., with the final workshop starting at 11:30 a.m. Each workshop is 30-45 minutes long. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the practical uses for rain barrels and the proper technique for later installation at home to become eligible for a tax deduction.

Compost Bin Workshop

The Division of Environmental Resources and University of Maryland Extension are pleased to offer compost workshops. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of home composting. Master Gardeners and Extension staff will explain the proper materials and techniques needed to create quality compost for your garden and landscape. Registrants can receive a free plastic GEOBIN or get instructions on making a wire bin at home.

Workshops are approx. 30-45 minutes in length and will be held Saturday, May 13, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the Charles County Government Building Parking Lot (Talbot Street, La Plata).
