At 10:40 p.m. Nov. 15, TFC T. Quade of the Leonardtown barracks was on foot patrol at the Relax Inn in Leonardtown, attempting to locate a suspect that had just robbed the Four Star Pizza in Leonardtown.
TFC Quade was knocking on each door and contacting residents in an attempt to locate a suspect or possible witness to the robbery. When the officer knocked on room 2, David Isiah Butler, 33, of Mechanicsville, came to the door.
The officer noticed Butler had white powder under and inside both his nostrils.
A Miles/NCIC check showed that Butler had an open warrant for his arrest from the St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office and he was placed under arrest.
TFC Quade looked inside the room and observed a plastic bag laying in plain view on the nightstand containing suspected cocaine.
A closer examination of the nightstand revealed another plastic bag containing a hard yellowish substance, suspected crack cocaine. The drawer to the nightstand was partially open and another plastic bag, containing suspected marijuana, was observed.
Butler was taken to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana and served with the open warrant for a child support violation. He was held pending a bail review.
