Prince Frederick, MD – During a very brief hearing Monday, Oct. 19 in Calvert County District Court, the case involving a Prince George’s County Police Department corporal was placed on the court’s stet docket. Steven Anthony Moure, 35 of Prince Frederick (pictured), was charged with two counts of second-degree assault in connection with an incident at his residence. The alleged assault occurred after Moure and his ex-wife became involved in a verbal altercation. The argument, which court documents stated was sparked by a disagreement over whether Moure’s teenage son should see a doctor regarding an injury, allegedly turned physical.

Moure was released on bond later that day but as a result of his arrest he was suspended from the police force.

On Sept. 3, the Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office dropped charges of second-degree child abuse related to the Aug. 18 incident.

“Mr. Moore’s case was placed on the stet—or inactive—docket with the condition that he obey all laws and continue and complete counseling,” state Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Morton. “Cases remain on the stet docket and can be removed by either party during the first year for any reason upon request of the court. After the first year, the court would have to find that there is good cause to remove the case from the stet docket and reschedule the case for trial.”

Meanwhile, Moure has not been reinstated by the police department. “Corporal Moure’s status with our agency is unchanged,” Prince George’s County Police Department officials stated in a memo to The BayNet. “He is still suspended. Our Internal Affairs Division is conducting an administrative investigation into this matter.”

Moure’s attorney declined to comment on the case.
