
Leonardtown, MD โ St. Maryโs County highway crews (12-15 dump trucks) were re-mobilized at 6:00 a.m. this morning for continued plowing and salting operations on Priority 1 main roadways (475 lane miles).ย Foremen with 4WD vehicles and plows will be addressing small problem areas, intersections, driveways, and cul-de-sacs throughout the day as conditions permit.
Supplemental contractor equipment was also re-activated at 6:00 a.m. this morning. Up to 90 pieces of equipment and 14 supplemental pieces of equipment has been dispatched. County construction & inspections staff with 4WD and plows will monitor the contractorsโ progress.
Citizens are asked to remain off the roads for the duration of the storm. The more cars that are off the streets, the easier it will be for the Department of Public Works & Transportation and its contractors to complete plowing operations. Residents are encouraged to park in their driveways, if possible to assist in the clean-up effort
According to the National Weather Service a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. this evening.ย Winds of 25 โ 35 MPH with gusts of up to 60 mph are in the forecast.ย In these conditions impacts may include downed trees, downed powerlines and minor structure damage. Driving high profile vehicles in these conditions is dangerous.
Blowing and drifting snow is expected to continue throughout the day.
STS Transit operations remain suspended thru Sunday.
Convenience Centers and Landfill operations will remain closed thru Sunday.
