The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were shutout by the Sugar Land Skeeters 2-0 tonight at Regency Furniture Stadium. Skeeters starting pitcher Matt Wright would throw a three-hitter through seven innings while striking out four to earn his tenth win of the season. Blue Crabs lefty Michael Ballardโ€™s only moment of weakness came in the third and seventh as he gave up two runs and was handed his fifth loss of the season. Renny Osuna, Jose Julio-Ruiz and Jeremy Owens were the only players on Southern Maryland to manage a hit in the contest.ย

Skeeters second baseman Jeff Dominguez blasted a solo home run off of Blue Crabs pitcher Ballard in the third to take the early lead. The score would stand at 1-0 until the seventh when Sugar Land added another run to the board. Centerfielder Adam Godwin would slice a double into centerfield, allowing Michael Rockett to score the Skeeters second run of the game. The two tallies remained the final as the Blue Crabs managed just three hits in the contest.ย
