Lexington Park, MD— On April 9, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tayloreย Siciliano responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries on Three Notch Road and in the area of Rod and Reel Fishing Supplies.ย
When Siciliano arrived on the scene the deputy observed one vehicle, a Ford Explorer, overturned on the shoulder of the roadway and the second vehicle, a GMC Yukon, with damage to its rear.
While Siciliano was walking to the scene, a citizen stated, “she’s not the driver of that vehicle,” according to charging documents. Contact was made with Erica Queen and Terry Kent, who were standing next to the Ford Explorer. Queen said she was driving the Ford Explorer, and Kent was in the passenger seat.
Siciliano made contact with the driver of the GMC Yukon who stated, “Queen was not the driver, she stated there was only one occupant in the vehicle which was a male,” according to charging documents.ย
Siciliano confronted Queen about the statements made by the citizen and the other driver involved in the motor vehicle collision.ย Siciliano again asked Queen, who was driving. Queen said she was driving. Siciliano told Queen she knew she was lying at which time Queen informed she was not driving; she then said she was not in the vehicle at the time of the collision.ย
Queen advised, “she was inside of the house when Kent and her cousin came in and said she had to go with them and tell the police she was driving the vehicle,” according to charging documents.ย
Siciliano then spoke with Kent, who was very uncooperativeย with the investigation. Siciliano asked Kent who was driving the vehicle, at which time Kent stated, “Queen said she was driving, she was driving,” according to charging documents.ย
Sicilianoย informed Kent that Queen admitted to not being the driver, and informedย us she was never in the vehicleย at the time of the accident. Kent becameย more uncooperative and began yelling,ย “he doesn’t know who was driving, all he knows is he wasn’t driving, and that’s what matter,” according to charging documents.ย
Kent was charged with making a false statement to an officer, and numerous motor vehicle violations. Kent has a scheduled hearing for June 2 in District Court. Kent faces a maximum jail sentence of six months and/or a maximum fine of $500.ย
