UPDATE – All highway lanes have reopened following crash

UPDATE at 9:20 p.m.

Waldorf, MD – Charles County authorities reported that the northbound side of Crain Highway at Holly Lane has now been reopened to traffic.

Authorities advise motorists to expect some residual delays this evening.

UPDATE AT 7:40 p.m.

Waldorf, MD – Southbound Crain Highway is back open. Northbound Crain Highway in the area of Holly Lane will continue to be shut down for an extended period of time due to a motor vehicle crash. Motorists should continue to expect major delays

Waldorf, MD – At 6:51 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, the Charles County Government reported northbound and southbound Crain Highway (U.S. Route 301) was closed in the area of Holly Lane for a motor vehicle crash. Motorists can expect major delays. Find an alternate route until further notice.

There are eyewitness reports from the scene that at least two helicopters have landed in the area for transporting injured motorists.
