
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – Occupants and employees of the Carol Porto Treatment Center were woken by smoke alarms caused by an accidental fire, early Wednesday morning.ย
On Aug. 15, 5:20 a.m., crews responded to the Carol Porto Treatment Center located on 125 Fairground Road, Prince Frederick for the report of a fire. Units from the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department arrived on the scene and put out a small fire located in the bathroom. The damage caused by the fire is estimated to be $300.ย
Investigation revealed the fire was caused by discarded smoking materials that were thrown into a trashcan. An employee discovered the trashcan melted and smoldering and called 911.ย ย
