UPDATE

A Valley Lee resident is displaced after an accidental fire caused an estimated $75,000 worth of damage to his house Monday morning.ย 

On July 9 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Kelly Moore heard unusual noises coming from the attic of his home. As he was investigating, he discovered smoke coming from the ceiling of his bathroom and called 911, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Thirty-five firefighters led by the Second District VFD responded to house located on the 19000 block of Russell Road, Valley Lee and had the fire under control in 15 minutes. Additional investigation revealed the fire was caused by a heat light located in the bathroom. Moore has been displaced by the fire but is being assisted by family and friends.ย

The fire is reported to be out. A investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal is pending.ย 

VALLEY LEE, Md.ย  – On July 9 at 10:00 a.m., crews are responded to reports of a house fire on the 19000 block of Russell Road in the area of Valley Lee. Reports from the scene say the home is a two-story, wood frame structure with heavy fire showing from the rear of the house and attic. Use caution in the area.ย
