On Feb. 27, a St. Maryโ€™s County Grand Jury Indicted the four suspects from a January armed robbery and attempted murder incident at a Lexington Park motel.

Detectives with St. Maryโ€™s Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) reported a man was carrying a large sum of money in a hotel after a home sale when he was robbed and beaten severely. Officers responded early Jan. 4 to find a victim bleeding heavily from the head.

The victim told police he received a large amount of money related to a recent sale of property and the suspect had knowledge of this.

The victim elected to maintain control of the funds by carrying cash on his person, and a $50,000 check.
Ronald Devon Young, 32, of Loveville, approached the victim and ordered him to hand the money over, police say. The victim refused and the man produced a knife and again ordered the victim to give him money. The victim provided the Young with $50 and he fled.

Young was apprehended and the knife and the clothing worn in the robbery were recovered.

Shortly thereafter, the victim went to another Lexington Park hotel and while traveling out to retrieve food made contact with Christina Beggs, 27.

The two began to consume alcohol in the victimโ€™s hotel room and Beggs made several calls.

She requested the victim accompany her to the lobby area where she was expecting a ride. Once outside the hotel room three black males approached the victim, one displaying a handgun and demanded money, police say.

The other two assaulted and held the victim as the third placed the weapon to his head and unsuccessfully tried to shoot the victim. The victim was struck repeatedly with a handgun causing head injuries and lacerations to the face. The men took the victimโ€™s money and wallet before fleeing the scene.

When police searched the room, a quantity of marijuana and cocaine was recovered as well as evidence from one of the robberies. Evidence located in the room led to suspects James Waters, 25, of St. Inigoes, and Beggs being identified as well as others.

Police arrested Brian Andre Carter, 28 of St. Inigoes, and Jermaine Dewitt Dyson, 28, of Lexington Park, the final two suspects in the case. Since the incident was first reported, a $50,000 check has been found and a handgun.
