Dowell, MD – The second annual Duckfest in Southern Calvert County got the month of October off to an enjoyable start. The charity event was held Sunday, Oct. 1 in the parking lot shared by the Hilton Garden Inn and the Ruddy Duck Brewery and Grill—the business that sponsored the five-hour event.
The event was a feast for lovers of traditional German cuisine, an opportunity to compete in the cornhole tournament, a costume party and music concert with three bands rocking the tent the entire time. The live music was provided by Run Catch Rain, Josh Airhart and Ryan Forrester Band. For the second year in a row Duckfest included a beer drinking contest and a yodeling contest.
Every cent raised benefits United Way of Calvert County and Bay Community Support Services. The owners of the Ruddy Duck call the crowd an “amazing turnout.” Michael Kelley, co-owner of the Ruddy Duck Brewery and Grill, commended all the volunteers for their hard work and thanked the event’s corporate sponsors.
