At 1:12 a.m. Nov. 10, Charles County Sheriffโs Officer M. Smith was patrolling the parking lot of Thai Seafood located at 2732 Crain Highway in Waldorf when he observed a stolen Nissan Maxima leave the parking lot and enter Crain Highway.
Officer Smith stopped the vehicle but when he exited his patrol car, the vehicle sped away northbound on Crain Highway. The vehicle turned onto Old Washington Road from Substation Road and continued south.
When the vehicle approached Billingsley Road, it went over the median and onto the property of the WaWa gas station and convenience store. All five occupants fled the vehicle on foot.
Officer R. Cuyler and her K9 partner arrived on the scene and conducted a track that resulted in the apprehension of two of the vehicleโs occupants, Clayton Lorenzo Thomas, 19, and Alexis Nicole Green, 21, both of Washington, D.C.
A third suspect, Jonathan Frank Smith, 22, of Washington, D.C., was apprehended later in the morning after officers discovered him attempting to get a ride at the WaWa.
Thomas, Green and Smith were charged with auto theft and other related crimes and were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.
