California, MD— On Nov.30 St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Det.Robert Merritt responded to Mill Cove Harbor Road in California for a report of a burglary.ย
When Merritt arrived on the scene, he made contact with the victim who advised, “numerous identifiable pieces of jewelry,ย to include several necklaces, pendants rings and other property totaling approximatelyย $10,000 were stolen from her home during the burglary,” according to charging documents.ย
Merritt made contact with one of the victim’s neighbors, who advised “at approximatelyย 1 p.m., the day of the burglary he observedย a white female as possibly being in her 20s or early 30s walking within the victim’s fenced year,” according to charging documents.
On March.1, 2016 Merritt was contacted by the victim, who advised, “she observed a unique necklace with silver starfish pendant displayed in the jewelry case at Pawnit in Lexington Park. This unique necklace and pendant matched the necklace and pendant stolen from her during the burglary occurring on Nov.20, 2015,” according to charging documents.
According to Pawnit records, ” the necklace and pendant were sold to Pawnitย by Brittany Ann Brady, 22, of no fixed. The sale occurred on Dec.1, 2015, which was one day after the burglary to the victim’s home occurred. Pawnit advised all the other jewelry sold to them by the defendant on Dec.1, 2015 had been melted,” according to charging documents.ย
According to charging documents, “I (Merritt) researched the defendant and discovered she has a history of burglary and theft. My (Merritt) research also revealed the defendantย currently has a warrantย for her arrest, she has no employment, no fixed address and is avoiding apprehension.”ย
Brady at this time does not have a scheduled court date. Brady faces a maximum jail sentence of 33 years and/or a maximum fine of $10,000.ย
