On Oct. 9, St. Maryโ€™s Sheriffโ€™s SDFC Michael Peacher and DFC Harlod Young, who are certified commercial motor vehicle inspectors for the Sheriff’s Office, conducted Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety inspections off of Thompson’s Corner Road (Rt. 236) on 15 vehicles and drivers.

Of the 15 commercial motor vehicles that were inspected, 13 had major mechanical safety violations, and should not of been operating on the roadway.

All vehicles that were found in violation and unsafe were place out of service, taken off the roadway, and the operators cited for the safety violations. One driver was placed out of service due to faulty log book violations.

The St Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office will continue to conducted grant funded commercial motor vehicle inspections throughout the year.
