On May 22, Sergeant Kenneth Cusic was traveling north on Route 5 in the Helen area when a vehicle traveling south swerved into his lane, causing Cusic to take evasive action to prevent a collision.
Investigation revealed that the operator of the vehicle, Rachele Marie Meridith of Mechanicsville, was intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
