Charles County Sheriff’s detectives charged Mario Bruce Myers, 57, of Washington, D.C., in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on August 11, 2009 at the PNC Bank in La Plata.
Crime scene forensic investigators recovered evidence from the robbery and submitted it to a crime lab for analysis. As a result, a DNA profile was developed and stored in a data base. Then, on July 30, 2010, the same bank was robbed again. This time, patrol officers caught the suspect, Mario Myers, immediately following the robbery. Investigators compared Myers’ DNA to the DNA profile from the August robbery and both profiles matched.
On February 10, Myers, who was already in jail, was charged with the August robbery.
