November is Diabetes Awareness Month. I gave this the acronym DAM because after collecting all of that great candy for Halloween, now I have to tell you why you can’t eat it. I’m just a messenger and by now you should know I always preach moderation anyway, so have some.
Diabetes is a health condition that involves your body’s ability to regulate sugar in your bloodstream.ย Almost 26 million adults and children have Diabetes in the United States.
Normally sugar is important for brain function and as an energy source for the cells of your body but when too much enters the bloodstream on a regular basis it causes havoc on your body and can lead to health problems.
Problems of too much sugar in your diet:
- Damage skin and cause wrinkles
- Tooth decay and Osteoporosis
- May cause Diabetes and Obesity
- Depletes body of important minerals
- Lowers your energy level
- Weakens the Immune System
- Can negatively affect your heart
- May cause Ulcers, Cancer and Gallstones
- Skin conditions like Eczema
- Can cause arthritis
Okay so the list goes on but you get the idea. Moderation is key.
