A driver was flown by helicopter from the scene of a crash at 3:23 a.m. July 14 on Indian Bridge Road near Longbow Drive.
Bay District Volunteers from Company 9, Leonardtown Squad 1, Company 19 and Medic 1 responded.
A sheriffโs deputy arrived on the scene first and confirmed that a vehicle was on its side with one patient trapped.
According to Bay District Fire Captain Jeffrey Bixby, Chief 3 and Chief 1 arrived on scene and advised responding units that the patient was trapped and suffering from a head injury and had difficulty breathing.
Engine 92 arrived on scene and initiated vehicle stabilization on and pulled a hoseline for protection. Squad 1 arrived and began extrication operations while the crew from Ambulance 197 began treatment and stabilization of the patient.
At 3:53 a.m. the patient was extricated and transported to the landing zone. Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 2 took off for Prince Georgeโs Hospital shock trauma at 4:16 a.m.
A Maryland State Police flight paramedic from Trooper 7 helicopter was driving home when the crash was dispatched and responded to the scene to help. Flight Paramedic Michael Gill is shown in the slideshow below.
