La Plata, MD – Steven Donnell Burroughs, 36 of Waldorf, will face sentencing in September for selling crack cocaine to an undercover officer Nov. 1, 2014.
Burroughs appeared in Charles County Circuit Court Monday, June 13 before Judge Amy J. Bragunier.
Charles County Assistant State’s Attorney Jared Albert said that as part of a plea agreement, Burroughs will be sentenced according to guidelines.
“Essentially, two 18-month consecutive sentences at the Charles County Detention Center,” Albert said.
Albert explained that Burroughs initially sold what was supposed to be crack cocaine to the undercover officer Oct. 30, 2013, but when the material was tested, there was no controlled dangerous substance detected.
“Two days later on November 1, 2014, the defendant sold crack cocaine to a confidential informant,” Albert added. The material tested positive for cocaine, he stated.
Burroughs will face sentencing Sept. 8.
Charles County Assistant Public Defender Courtney Dixon asked if her client could remain free on bond until sentencing.
“He can remain on bond as long as he obeys all laws,” Bragunier said.
