Mechanicsville, MD – Corporal Oโ€™Connor of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Seabreeze Restaurant in Mechanicsville May 30 after callers reported an intoxicated female walking in the roadway on Sandgates Road.

Corporal Oโ€™Connor located the female, identified as Amy Michelle Drye, 35 of Broomes Island.

Drye was wearing little clothing and appeared to be heavily intoxicated. Corporal Oโ€™Connor attempted to find her a ride home, however she remained uncooperative after friends and family refused to pick her up.

Drye began to scream obscenities at another person in the area.

She was told to stop several times by Corporal Oโ€™Connor but refused. Corporal Oโ€™Connor placed Drye under arrest for public intoxication.

As Corporal Oโ€™Connor began to search Drye, she tried to kick Corporal Oโ€™Connor several times and missed.

Drye was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Detention Center and charged with public intoxication; endangerment, second degree assault and disorderly conduct.
