On July 7, Marias Icaza, the owner of the new Dunkin’ Donuts in Leonardtown, presented Sheriff’s Office Detective David Alexander a $1000 check for the Special Olympics Torch Run at their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
Icaza stated, “The Special Olympics is very dear to my heart. We have a gold medal-winning Olympian, who works for this new storefront, and it is amazing to watch him grow as a person and develop his independence in such a wonderful work environment. I love giving back to the local community, and this is my way of contributing.”
Also in attendance for the presentation and ribbon cutting was Mayor Dan Burris, Maryland State Senator Steve Waugh, State Delegate Matthew Morgan, St. Mary’s County Commissioners James Guy and Todd Morgan, Leonardtown Commissioner Jay Mattingly and Town Administrator Laschelle McKay.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, on behalf of Sheriff Tim Cameron and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, extend our appreciation to Marias Icaza and Dunkin Donuts for their gracious donation.
