Just two weeks ago, in myย Ellynne en Pointeย column for July 24, I asked โWhere Have You Gone, Monica Lewinsky?โ, as a plea for a distraction from the endless Martin/Zimmerman discussion. Well, somebody โout thereโ must have read that article because, coincidentally, Ms. Lewinsky has resurfaced via a purported audio tape acquired by the National Enquirer. In aย New Yorkย Daily Newsย article dated July 31, 2013 Daniel Beekman reports that a tape from November of 1997 reveals Monica attempting to persuade then-President Bill Clinton to meet with her. And in continuing news, Anthony Weiner insists that heโs going to stay in the race for mayor of NYC; itโs less than 40 days until that Democratic primary. (Part of Mr. Weinerโs insistence on remaining in the race is that he is eligible for over two million dollars in matching campaign funds which he will lose if he drops out; and the ballot has already been finalized so voters will still have his name listed for the primary whether or not he drops out).
