St. Mary’s County sadly said goodbye to Matthew Louis Suite, Jr., age 63, of Mechanicsville who passed away on January 22, 2013 at his home.
He and his wife, Mickie, were named St. Mary’s County’s 2012 Republican Man and Woman of the Year in 2012; the announcement was made last May at the Annual Lincoln-Reagan Dinner held at Olde Breton Inn. Matt also served as Treasurer of the St. Mary’s County Republican Central Committee from June to December, 2012.
He was born March 17, 1949 in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Crossland High School in 1967. He subsequently served for six years in the U.S. Navy Air Reserve.
For over 25 years, he owned and operated Waldorf and Charles County Computers and most recently had been employed at Southern Maryland Publishing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active in many community events. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 44 years, his family, and his many friends. He has left us all too soon.
A memorial mass, attended by hundreds, was celebrated at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mechanicsville at 11 a.m. on January 26. The priest spoke eloquently of the necessity of being prepared because we just never know when our time will come.
At the reception immediately following the service, many photos and scrapbooks were displayed in the church hall which chronicled Matt’s life. The largest photo posted in the center of the display showed Matt and Mickie holding each other closely and smiling happily. The picture was stunning; what a great way for Matt to be remembered.
