Apparently Clint Eastwood has heard through the grapevine – somehow – of my rave review of his speech given during the Republican National Convention last summer. Roxanne Roberts and Amy Argetsinger reported in theirย Reliable Sourceย column in the September 19ย Washington Postย that on the TV show โExtra,โ Mr. Eastwood was quoted as saying โIf somebodyโs dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, theyโre gonna have to take what they getโ. And when asked if he would repeat the talking to an empty chair act if he had the chance to do it all over again, he replied, โI probably would.โ
My view of the results of the presidential election? I believe that Grady Means in hisย Post-Electionย column in the Commentary section of the November 8 edition of theย Washington Times has summed things up quite succinctly by saying, โThe problem is that there is a vast store of evidence that the president is excellent at winning elections, but very poor at political leadership.โ
The following is from Mary Burke Russell, Chairman of the St. Maryโs County Republican Central Committeeโฆ
How is it possible that the voters of the 5thย congressional district who have entrusted delegate Tony OโDonnell (Calvert County) to represent them in Annapolis, electing and re-electing him for the past 18 yrs. , choseย notย to send him to Washington to represent us? How can the 5thย District continually keep Tony in office for 18 yrs. and then say heโs not good enough for the national level?ย St. Maryโs County was on the right track in voting for the Romney/Ryan ticket and in voting for Dan Bongino. And where was Steny Hoyer during the Veterans Day Parade held in Leonardtown on November 11?? Our delegate Tony OโDonnell was there and proudly rode on the St. Maryโs County Republican float. Thank you to all of the voters in St. Maryโs County who worked so hard during the campaign.
