News from the MDGOP Convention: MDGOP members met at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Timonium, Md. April 19-20. Congratulations to Interim Chair/First Chair Diana Waterman (of Queenstown), for winning election to remain as MDGOP Chair. Collins Bailey (Charles County) was elected as First Chair.
St. Mary’s County was also honored at the Convention by winning the Aris T. Allen Award for Outstanding Voter Registration Effort in turning the county from blue to red in 2012. And our very own SMC RCC Chair, Mary Burke-Russell, received the Belva Lockwood Award as Outstanding Maryland Republican Woman of 2012 (Ms. Burke-Russell was also one of the nominees for First Chair). Mary offers thanks to the volunteers of the St. Mary’s County Republican Club and of the St. Mary’s County Republican Women’s’ Club for all their hard work and support.
