The Charles County Department of Emergency Services received a grant for $121,000 to acquire mobile tablets for every county ambulance. The addition of this state-of-the-art mobile technology will enhance patient care and accountability.
In September 2013, the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Service Systems (MIEMSS) selected the Charles County Department of Emergency Services’ EMS Division as the lead agency for testing the Health Care (HC) Standard® Patient Tracking System on a single technology platform. Following months of field testing, the EMS Division recommended a mobile tablet solution as the most appropriate platform for HC Standard®.
Communications is the most vital component in effectively managing and accounting for patients and resources during routine daily incidents as well as mass casualty or disaster events. The statewide implementation of the HC Standard® Mobile Patient Tracking System is Maryland’s solution. The new system integrates patient care reporting, computer-aided dispatch interface, and patient tracking, while ensuring full Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance into a single device.
