Being a volunteer fire fighter is a serious business, but that doesn’t mean the volunteers don’t enjoy their share of well-deserved fun. At Huntingtown’s volunteer fire department, which was chartered in 1972, the firefighters regularly gather together for monthly member events.
Each month the department holds a special event for the members in appreciation for all of the services they have provided. Their member events range from Luaus or bowling, to dinners and movies, to a festive annual Christmas party, which will take place next month.
Last Sunday, approximately 70 members of Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad gathered at the station with their family and friends for the annual Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner was provided courtesy of the department and officers. “This past Sunday was once again a great success with everybody leaving pleased,” reported Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe.
