Jamar Walton hit a go-ahead RBI double in the top of the 13th to give the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs a 7-6 victory over the Lancaster Barnstormers in extra innings. The win snaps the five-game road losing streak for the Blue Crabs.
With two on and one out in the top of the 13th, Walton doubled off of reliever Jason Richardson to give the Blue Crabs the lead at 7-6. It was their first lead since back in the top of the 2nd inning.
The Blue Crabs tied the game in the top of the 9th inning courtesy of former Barnstomer Tony Delmonico. With the tying run on second base, Delmonico doubled home Johermyn Chavez to tie game at 6-6.
Both teams came up with runs in the 8th inning. Trailing 5-3, Amadeo Zazueta delivered a two-out, two-run single to tie the game. Zazueta finished the game with 3-for-7. Lancaster immediately regained the lead in the bottom of the 8th courtesy of a Ben Francisco fielderโs choice that scored Lance Zawadzki.
The bottom of the Blue Crabs lineup produced early and often in the game. New Blue Crabs James Skelton and Bobby Stevens combined for three runs batted in with back-to-back run scoring hits that tied the game at 3-3 in the 2nd inning.
The Blue Crabs continue their four-game series tomorrow night in Lancaster against the Barnstormers at 7:05. Southern Maryland returns home on July 4 for a special 6:35 first pitch against the Sugar Land Skeeters. Purchase tickets for the game by visitingย
